Blog Challenge Post #10: Favorite Picture of My Best Friend

There are far too many classic pictures for me to choose just one, so here are my top 5. I can't thank this girl enough for the great times we have had over the last 10 years! Here's to many many more!

Absolutely beautiful bride and wedding. The thoughts going through her head at this moment...

Classic child Christmas picture! I guess she wasn't feeling what was in this box. :-)

Good times in Dallas! Can't you tell?...

One of my favorites from our European vacation.

My bachelorette party weekend photo shoot in New Orleans. The story being told during this picture is unbelievable! Probably one of the most memorable moments from that weekend.

Blog Challenge Post #9: Animal I Would Like as a Pet

I am by no means a cat person, but the animal I would love to have as a pet is a Tiger. I am absolutely mesmerized by them. There is just something in their eyes every time I look at them that just leaves me in amazement and I just love how playful they can be.

I will leave you with some pic of my favorite Tiger... Mike VI! Check him out on the Tiger cam. http://www.mikethetiger.com

Blog Challenge Post #7: Moment Most Satisfied with Life

I had something in mind a few days ago for this post, but that completely changed after yesterday.

Yesterday, February 8, 2014, is the day that includes the moment that I was most satisfied with life. The day marked my "big chop." I have been thinking about transitioning to natural for months and even set a goal of big chopping in June. Well, again patience is not my virtue and dealing with two hair textures was NO FUN! So, when I took my Senegalese Twists out- I knew it was time, I had a good amount of hair growth from having the twists so why not just go for it. If you're going to do something you might as well go all in!

I finally came to realize what my natural hair looks like and fell in love with it! I had a fear of what was underneath all the perms I've been getting. I was fearful of how I would look "bald headed." I have had at least shoulder length hair since 2002...what in the world was I thinking? I wasn't fully certain that I would go through with the decision, but I am so grateful that I did.

The top left corner is a picture of me the night before I had my Senegalese Twists put in my hair. All of that hair is in a dumpster somewhere now. :-) The other pictures are just after the BC.

This is some thick stuff...I've always known I had a lot of hair, but I had no idea!

As of yesterday, I have embraced the hair that God blessed me with. No more concerns of what everyone else thinks. God makes no mistakes! I should have done this years ago!

Blog Challenge Post #6: Does Your Zodiac Sign Fit?

I'm not into horoscopes, but I find this to be pretty interesting. Overall I would say that the sign does reflect me at some point in my life, including many of the "negatives" I have been working on over the years.

I'm taking the characteristics from http://zodiac-signs-astrology.com/zodiac-signs/aries.htm and in blue you will see my feelings on if those characteristics pertain to me.

Aries Strength Keywords:

- Independent
- Generous
- Optimistic
- Enthusiastic
- Courageous

I have to say that I agree with all of these descriptors. I can see myself in all of these, especially being independent.

Aries Weakness Keywords:

- Moody
- Short tempered
- Self-involved
- Impulsive
- Impatient

I'll claim it, I can definitely be all of the above! Not too much on the self-involved side, but patience surely has never been my virtue. I've been a work in progress in that area. Moodiness comes primarily when I'm hungry, but I think everyone gets that way when they need to eat!

Aries and Independence:

Aries personalities are independent. Being the first of the zodiac signs, they venture out and are go-getters, often leading the way. Their upbeat and magnetic personality often entices others to follow their lead because Aries personalities bring excitement into others lives.

I like to bring joy to people's lives.

Aries and Friendship:

Aries are good friends, they always look out for their friends with caring and generosity and will protect them should the need arise and encourage them with their natural optimism. If confronted, Aries can turn to be quite childish, they will fight back with their aggressive nature and are known to have temper tantrums should they not get their way.

I would call myself a great friend. I am very picky about who I call a "friend" and actually treat them more like family.

I don't agree with this whole temper tantrum situation...

Aries and Business:

Aries are activists. If a business idea comes their way, they tend to plunge right in. Aries are more then willing to take a gamble and follow their dreams and goals. However, if success is not immediate, they tend to lose interest and give up easily. Aries are notorious for not finishing what they have begun. This is due to the low tolerance for boredom and lack of patience. If the excitement is gone from their business idea, they go off and search for it elsewhere.

Agreed...I get bored very easily, which is why teaching is ideal! No day, class period, group of kids, etc. is the same. There are new experiences around every corner.

Aries Temperament:

Independence is key to Aries astrology, they do not like to take orders from others and enjoy getting their way. They can get childish or moody should they be given orders that they do not like. Aries easily take offense to comments made. Aries are self-involved and can be self-centered, if they do not pay attention to the feelings of others, Aries can easily become spoiled and resented by others. In order to get their way, Aries will tell a lie if it seems advantageous to do so. They are however, not very good liars and other people can usually see through them.

Lies! The one thing I cannot stand is a liar, so no, I will not lie to get my way.

Aries Deep Inside:

Underneath the strong, independent surface may lie insecurity. This is due to the intense drive to succeed and Aries put too much pressure on themselves, thus resulting in self-doubt however, the natural optimism and enthusiasm overtakes this and the underlying insecurity may never be known to others.

There might be some truth to this. I do put A LOT of pressure on myself to succeed.

Aries in a Nutshell:

Aries is the first of the zodiac signs. Aries is the sign of the self, people born under this sign strongly project their personalities onto others and can be very self-oriented. Aries tend to venture out into the world and leave impressions on others that they are exciting, vibrant and talkative. Aries tend to live adventurous lives and like to be the center of attention, but rightly so since they are natural, confident leaders. Aries are enthusiastic about their goals and enjoy the thrill of the hunt, "wanting is always better then getting" is a good way to sum it up. Aries are very impulsive and usually do not think before they act - or speak. Too often Aries will say whatever pops into their head and usually end up regretting it later!

A few years ago I would definitely agree with the lack of a filter. Now, I just make myself shut up! Unfortunately, my face usually tells everything that I would say.

Aries Love, Sex and Relationships

What it's like to date an Aries Woman:

Dating an Aries never lacks excitement. She is hot-blooded, and forceful, so you had better be able to handle the heat! The Aries woman is for the person who likes an independent self-driven woman who can fend for herself and is not clingy and needy. An Aries woman requires freedom. For the Aries woman, the best part of the relationship is the beginning, then the spark is there and she is trying to catch you to be hers. She will find happiness in a long-term relationship because she enjoys sharing everything with her partner. She will not only have a romantic partner but a best friend too. She has a great need for love and passion but she will never let a man become the master, she considers her partner to be equal. Aries women are not for domineering men. She will be faithful but she expects the same in return. She can be jealous because she wants a man to give her all of his attention, "all or nothing", so her jealously is rooted in her possessiveness, she has to be number one in his eyes. She will always encourage and give strength to her partner so an Aries woman is great to have in times of despair or need, she will always be there for you. In order to have this happy ending, she needs to feel appreciated and loved.

Absolutely the truth! Never clingy or needy, I always wanted a partner. And of course I desire to be number one, why settle for anything less?

I omitted the Aries man portion.

How To Attract Aries:

Let Aries know that you admire them, they thrive of admiration and followers. Let them know that you love their zest for life and that you find them intriguing, they love compliments more then most other astrology signs of the zodiac. Compliment them physically and mentally, they like conversation about intellectual topics and engage them in a lively discussion, or a friendly debate. They love the challenge and the stimulation of good, intelligent conversation. Ask them for advice, let them know that you look up to them. Remember, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and the most forward and independent, they love followers. Do not be a push over, do not keep your opinions to yourself because Aries will quickly get bored if you agree with everything they say. Do not attempt to control them however, they do not like taking orders. Aries are very capable people so if you go with their plans, you are sure to have a good time! If they have a suggestion for something to do, go with the flow, they like to be in control of what goes on.

Good conversation is always a top priority. There are few things worse than someone who lacks an opinion!

Blog Challenge Post #4: Something I Miss

This is a pretty easy one! The one thing I miss regularly is the feeling you get on a Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium!

There is nothing like hearing the roar of the crowd, tailgating, seeing Mike the Tiger, the often off beat clapping of the crowd as the band performs for pregame, dancing for every offensive down, bowing to Chinese Bandits, singing Calling Baton Rouge, singing the Alma Mater at the end of the game with the band and team, making the opponent struggle to even hear themselves breathe and  cheering the Tigers on to a victory!

There is absolutely NOTHING like a Louisiana Saturday Night! If you've never experienced it, this is definitely something for the bucket list! Don't believe me, ask any one who has ever experienced it.

Blog Challenge Post 2: Favorite TV Show

I'm not a big TV Show person. There is just too much "reality" TV out for me to tune in. So I have to take it back quite a bit to a show that I could watch any and all episodes of any day, all day and not feel bad about it at all...The Cosby Show! One of my favorite episodes was Mr. Cosby's lesson to Theo on moving out on your own-that monopoly money went fast! And remember the government comes for the "regular people." If only those prices were accurate these days for housing, a car, food, etc.

Good times, life lessons and great laughs. For a trip down memory lane....
